about me

They say that a journey with a thousand miles begins with a single step. Each and every one of us has his own path in which we all follow. Some lead the right path and some don’t. We experience things where we can learn from. But the best thing upon our journey is that we meet different people who give meaning to our lives.
2nd of April, 1989, I first saw light. I was given the name Kim Atienza Perada, by my parents Dom and Vangie, but they didn’t have the “happily ever after” that everyone wants to have. My mother found happiness again in Rob, who became my father for more than half of my life.
I am the second child in the brood of four. I have one brother named Nico, a twin sister, Jamie and our youngest sister is Nicki.
I started my formal education at the age of four at Carmel School of Batangas. I spent my elementary years in three schools: Saint Mary Euphrasia Montessori Marian Learning Center and Science High School and Saint Bridget College, in where I spent three years in high school. I migrated to the Netherlands in 2005 and continued my studies. I first went to a grammar school, Da Vinci College, to learn Dutch and transferred to Visser ‘T Hooft Lyceum to finish the rest of my secondary year. I am now studying fashion design in Mondriaan in The Hague. As of now, I speak Filipino, English, Dutch and understand a little bit of Spanish. I would also like to learn Italian and French.
When I was five years old, my parents sent me to a ballet school. I stopped dancing ballet until I found out that I can do better in swimming, in which I received lots of gold medals. I also attended voice lessons, dance lessons and even theater workshop. But of course I still had time to play and enjoy my childhood.
I love to travel to places where I can learn something. Apart from the Philippines and the Netherlands, I have been to Saudi Arabia, France, Spain, Greece, Germany, Belgium, England and Canada. My dream destination for vacation is Rio de Janeiro. But I see myself living in Italy.
The first time I saw light, I was happy because God shared this life to me. He wants me to experience what life really is. Life is not a joke. Life has its brightness and darkness. But there’s someone who shared the light to my dark days. And it is my mom. She is my strength. I don’t know how to move on with my life if ever she’ll leave me. But what she taught me is how to stand up when I fall. I’ll just pray to God, have faith in Him and ask Him to give me strength so I can face each day with great courage and confidence. I remember a saying from teacher way back in high school: when reason ends, faith begins. God gave me this kind of life, so all I can do is to accept it, live with it and not waste it. I know that the challenges He has been giving me are only tests to know how much faith I have for Him.
My first and foremost ambition in life is to finish my studies. I would love to have my own fashion line someday that would help me raise money for my family. I would buy a lot and build a house for them. The greatest goal I want to fulfill is the establishment of an orphanage for those children in need of a home where they can feel the love and attention they deserve. I know that the path I am taking now is leading me to the right direction because of God’s help and blessing.
